Some notes about our embroideries:
All of our embroideries have several layers.
The
layer underneath the embroidery is called stabiliser and that is
exactly what it does, it stabilises the fabric whilst it is being sewn.
We use tear away stabiliser so if you can see the back of the
embroidery you may notice some white fibres round the edges of the work
and this is the remains of the tear away stabiliser. Any left over
stabiliser does not affect the embroidery in use.
We
also use Topping fabric, this gives the embroidery a neater finish and
prevents fibres showing through the embroidery if the fabric being
embroidered has a pile; like minkee or fleece. The topping fabric looks
a little like cling film and it is also tear away. Sometimes very small
bits of topping fabric may be seen in small corners of your embroidery
or under layers where there are wide stitches with gaps. This topping
fabric is water soluble so it will disappear when the garment is
washed, or if you wish you can remove it using a damp cloth.
For
applique designs the finished item will look different to the one in
the sample photo, although we will of course attempt to make as close a
match as possible if you want a particular look. If you have
preferences for individual colours or fabrics you would like included
in your chosen applique design, please indicate your preferences in the
special instructions box on your order form. If you would like pastel
colours or bright colours for an embroidery please indicate your
preferences in the same way.
